(Phnom Penh): The Cambodia Cycling Federation has successfully completed the organization of the 2024 National Cycling Championship Competition, after a three-day competition from January 24-26, 2025 in Kampot province, while experts highly appreciated the increase of ability of participating athletes, especially the national team candidates who gathered to train last year.

Mr. Nou Chamroeun, Secretary General of the Federation, said that the annual national championship competition had more than 20 associations/clubs participating, if compared to last year, a decrease of 10 clubs because this year the federation organized it on difficult roads and is a competition to select the athletes to train in preparation for the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand at the end of 2025.

The main goal of this national championship is to test the national team's capacities after they gathered to train in 2024 to assess their capacities. As a result, the Federation saw the efforts of all athletes, especially in mountain biking, which is a response to preparing to compete on the same difficult road conditions in the SEA Games later this year.

The Secretary General of the Federation continued that, “Through this competition, we saw that the level of ability and technique of the athletes has improved, especially the national athletes who have gathered training in 2024. They participated in the national championship earlier this year, and their technical level has increased significantly, especially in the Bokor mountain climb, they did better than last year.”

It should be noted that, after going through a tough competition in 8 disciplines, the Ministry of Interior Club won the most medals in total of 6 medals (3 gold, 1 silver, and 2 bronze). Kirirom Cycling Club ranked second, won 2 gold and 1 silver medals. Electro Racing Club ranked third, won 1 gold, 1 silver, and 2 bronze medals. Kampot Cycling Club ranked fourth, won 1 gold and 1 bronze medal, and Cambodia Biking Club ranked 5th, won 1 gold medal. On behalf of the Federation, Mr. Nou Chamroeun thanked to the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, Kampot Provincial Administration, and sponsors for supporting and encouraging this annual event to end successfully.
