Phnom Penh: Mr. Thomas Bach, Honorary President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), has invited H.E. Buy Sophoan, Permanent Advisor to the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia, to attend in the top meeting of the Olympism365, under the theme “Sport for a Better World” to be held from 3 to 5 June 2025 in Lausanne, Switzerland, hosted by the IOC.
The Summit participants include representatives from the Olympic Movement, such as athletes, young leaders, Olympic Partners “TOPS” and representatives of National Olympic Committees “NOCs”, International Sports Federations “IFs”, United Nations agencies, development and financial institutions and NGOs from around the world.
H.E. Buy Sophon said: “The Summit is organized in line with the momentum and commitment of the “Sport for Sustainable Development Summit”, jointly initiated by France and the IOC, which will be held before the day of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. It will become a forum to connect and share the best practices and facilitate to strengthen the cooperation to urge the commitment together, and to promote the sports sector with Safety, environment and sustainability.
His Excellency continued that: “The Olympism365 Summit is the global gathering of partners from the Olympic Movement, the United Nations, development and financial institutions, civil society and the safe sport community, working together with the IOC to strengthen the role of sport as a key driving force for sustainable development.”
H.E. Buy Sophoan added that: “The Summit will be a special opportunity to showcase and congratulate the combined impact of sport and the Olympics of sport initiatives idea and Olympic spirit in society more than 500 projects supported by the IOC. These initiatives directly contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and highlight the IOC’s leadership in Safe Sport.”
Please note that, the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC) is one of the lucky 10 participating countries, selected by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) from among 206 Olympic committees.
