Phnom Penh: H.E. Dr. Senior Minister Thong Khon, President of the Cambodia Gymnastics Federation, told his subordinate technical officials to work hard to improve the skills of male and female athletes to reach a high level so that they have more chances to win medals for the country, both in the 33rd SEA Games 2025 and towards hosting the Asian Youth Games 2029.
H.E. Dr. Thong Khon reminded the historic achievements that the Cambodia gymnastics team has made at the SEA Games, winning 3 silver medals and 1 bronze medal from the 31st SEA Games 2022 in Vietnam and winning 1 silver medal and 3 bronze medals from the 32nd SEA Games 2023, which Cambodia hosted. They also won gold, silver and bronze medals in subsequent ASEAN and Asian gymnastics competitions.
With this popularity building, H.E. Dr. Thong Khon encouraged and urged the Cambodia gymnastics team to work hard and strengthen the capabilities to be able to win medals at the SEA Games 2025 in Thailand again, as well as to achieve good results in the Asian Youth Games 2029.
H.E. Doctor said that: “I would like to encourage the Cambodia Gymnastics Federation to strive to extract experience and techniques from all international competitions and improve the capabilities of judges, coaches, and assistant coaches to use this knowledge and experience to train our athletes to be highly capable in order to win medals for the country in the SEA Games 2025 in Thailand and the Asian Youth Games 2029, which Cambodia will host.”
H.E. Noy Phana, Secretary General of the Cambodia Gymnastics Federation, claimed that: The federation has a detailed plan to achieve success in the SEA Games 2025 and prepare for the Asian Youth Games 2029 in accordance with H.E. Dr. Thong Khon’s recommendations, and the federation has also monitored the athletes who need to be prepared for these two events.
His Excellency also confirmed that: “We have already seen all these points, but we are still waiting for the 2025 gathering to see how many athletes that the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports will provide for the quota for our gymnastics athletes, both in preparation for the SEA Games 2025 and the Asian Youth Games 2029.”
For the SEA Games 2025 in Thailand, H.E. Noy Phana emphasized that the federation has already prepared a plan with coaches, assistant coaches and expert officials, so that the athletes can achieve any medal results.
His Excellency stressed that: “On behalf of I am the person to be responsible on the technical work for the SEA Games 2025, we must strive to achieve any medal results among the three levels of medals for our homeland.”
