Ms. Kirsty Coventry, who was elected as the new president of the
International Olympic Committee (IOC) to replace the outgoing president Thomas
Bach, will be officially appointed on Monday, June 23, 2025, on the Olympic Day.

The Zimbabwean woman received 49 out of 97 votes among six other
candidates in the election of International Olympic Committee members in March
2025, and become to be the first female IOC president, who is not a man in the
history of the Olympic Movement.
Should be reminded that, Ms. Kirsty Coventry, 41, was a Zimbabwe’s best
athlete and one of the best athletes in Africa. She was also the former Minister of Youth
and Sports of Zimbabwe from 2018 to 2025. She won seven Olympic swimming gold
medals in 2004 and 2008.

Please inform that, on June 23, 2025 will be celebrated the Olympic Day,
a day of the Olympic movement that member countries of the International
Olympic Committee (IOC) celebrate annually to commemorate the values of the
Olympic Games, while Cambodia also organizes annually.
To celebrate the Olympic Day in Cambodia, the National Olympic Committee
of Cambodia also organize on Sunday, June 22 at the Morodok Techo National
Stadium from 7 am onwards, with the participation of 400 students, 200 students
from Russey Keo High School and 200 students from Chea Sim Chamroeun Radh High
School, plus 100 national team athletes, totaling 500 persons.
