Former striker Wayne Rooney has revealed that Carlos Tevez was the most understanding strike partner at Manchester United between 2007 and 2009.

The English football hero said on The Wayne Rooney Show: "I loved playing with Carlos. When he arrived, the press said he was too small and can not to be a good partner. But when it came to play, it was the opposite of what the press thought. We were both strong, determined, ready to compete and always supporting each other. One played as a No. 9, the other dropped down as a No. 10, mobile all the time and it just came naturally."
Rooney and Tevez were Man Utd's main attacking partners from 2007 to 2009 and, along with Cristiano Ronaldo, formed a formidable attacking force that helped United win two consecutive Premier League titles and the 2008 UEFA Champions League. The pair scored 47 goals between them and were key players for manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
Despite Cristiano Ronaldo's contribution, Rooney believes it is Tevez who has been the most important partner in helping him stand out.
"I've had two seasons where I've scored over 30 goals as a midfielder but to be honest I've been bored. I like to play, I like to pass, I like to coordinate and move. Tevez has helped me a lot with that," Rooney added.
Carlos Tevez left Manchester United at the end of the 2008/09 season to join city rivals Manchester City, before moving on to Juventus and Boca Juniors, where he retired in 2022.
Rooney stressed that although they only played together for two years, it became a very special friendship.
