The Olympic Movement Builds the World to be More Beautiful and Peaceful Through Sports

More than 100 students from Chea Sim Samaki High School participated to receive the knowledge session on the history of the Olympic Movement shared by an instructor from the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC) on Wednesday morning, December 10, 2025.

H.E. Buy Sophoan, the advisor of NOCC and is an instructor said that, this program introduced students to know about the values ​​of the Olympic Movement and the history of the Olympic Movement from the ancient Greek era to the present. The vision of the Olympic Movement is to build a more beautiful and peaceful world through sports.

His Excellency, the instructor, explained that: "Since the ancient Olympic movement in the Greek Empire, it required all states that were at war or have been fighting each other had to organize a one-month ceasefire to let athletes could participate safely and peacefully. The values ​​of the ceasefire and the ancient Olympic values ​​have been implemented to the present day, both In the Olympic Games, Asian Games and SEA Games, these values ​​have always been accepted and implemented. In fact, when Cambodia hosted the 2023 SEA Games, there was also the motto: "Sports Live in Peace."

However, H.E. Buy Sophoan expressed his regret that Thailand, the host of the 2025 SEA Games, did not respect the vision of the Olympic movement by invading Cambodia.

After sharing experiences and knowledge, the students also participated to play in various sports together which organized by working team of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia. Students from Chea Sim Samaki High School expressed their enthusiasm for participating in the program of sharing the values ​​and the Olympic movement and made them understand more clearly about the definition of sports.
