Cambodia changes date to host the Asian Youth Games from 2029 to 2031

In accordance with the spirit of the Executive Committee meeting of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), Cambodia has been requested to change the date of hosting the Asian Youth Games from 2029 to 2031.

 This was stated by His Excellency Vath Chamroeun, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia, on Sunday, October 27, 2025, on the occasion of His Excellency leading Cambodian athletes to compete in the 2025 Asian Youth Games in Bahrain.

His Excellency the Secretary General of the NOCC stated that, the request for this postponing is because of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) will adjust the timing of the Asian Youth Games from every four years to every two years.

H.E. Vath Chamroeun said that: "With receiving the highest approval of Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has allowed the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia and all relevant ministries have been authorized to host the 2031 Games. This is also another pride that Cambodia has received the attention of the international community and the leaders of the Olympic Movement in Asia, as well as the leaders of the International Olympic Movement who have given confidence to Cambodia to continue preparing to host the 2031 Asian Youth Games.

"H.E. Vath Chamroeun emphasized that: Cambodia will be committed to doing its best to promote national honor and prestige through sports. On behalf of the Cambodian sports delegation that participated in the event in Bahrain, I would like to thank the people of the country and leaders at all levels who have encouraged and supported Cambodian athletes.
