H.E. Yi Veasna: Cambodia’s progress in the Asian Youth Para Games over the past 4 years is due to the peace

H.E. Yi Veasna, Secretary General of the National Paralympic Committee of Cambodia, reminded that in 2021, Cambodia sent only 15 athletes to the Asian Youth Para Games in Manama, Bahrain, but that time Cambodia had one athlete who won only 1 silver medal. However, in 2025, in the competition in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Cambodia had 35 athletes and won 3 gold, 4 silver, and 5 bronze medals.

H.E. Yi Veasna made this statement at the Techo International Airport on Sunday evening, December 14, after returning from leading Cambodian young athletes to the Asian Youth Para Games in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from December 7 to 14, 2025.


The Secretary General of the National Paralympic Committee of Cambodia said that, this remarkable growth came from peace and stability under the wise leadership of Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, former Prime Minister, and continued by Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, current Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, which has made all sectors grow, including the sports sector.

In participating in the 2025 Asian Youth Para Games, the team of Para Games youth athletes of Cambodia competed in four sports such as: Single Para Athletics, Swimming, Badminton and Goalball. In that, only badminton that Cambodia did not win any medal.


Pease confirm that, the delegation of Cambodia to the Asian Youth Para Games, led by H.E. Samheng Boros, Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister, and representing H.E. Deputy Prime Minister Hun Many, Minister of Public Service and is the Vice President of the National Paralympic Committee of Cambodia, brought the flag of the Asian Youth Para Games to Cambodia to continue as the host for 2029.
