After completing a three-day mission in Cambodia, Mr. Yong Chuleav, a weightlifting expert from the International Weightlifting Federation, said that although the situation of weightlifting in Cambodia is still in a developing stage, he believes that it will have a good future due to the efforts of the national federation, as well as the quality of coaches and athletes. Therefore, more efforts from the coaching team can improve the athletes to a higher level.

At the same time, the same expert also shared some comments to the Cambodia Weightlifting Federation regarding good planning, especially long-term planning, and seeking financial support from various sources. Not only is that, training equipment indeed an additional requirement to develop athletes’ capabilities.
Meanwhile, H.E. Tem Meun, President of the Cambodia Weightlifting Federation, considered Mr. Yong Chuleav’s visit to be very important because the federation can share experiences in terms of developing the sport in Cambodia, including administrative, management, intellectual solutions, and standard development.
Please be informed that, the visit of Mr. Yong Chuleav, a weightlifting expert, was conducted under the sponsorship of the International Weightlifting Federation and the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia as part of the Olympic Solidarity Project to develop the national sports system of the Cambodia Weightlifting Federation, which took place from August 11 to 13, 2025.
