Phnom Penh: The 2025 Vovinam National Championship and High Tech Trophy, which lasted three days, was assessed as a success in terms of both technique and the number of increasing clubs.
This assessment was confirmed by H.E. Ou Ratana, President of the Cambodia Vovinam Federation, at the closing ceremony of the 2025 Vovinam National Championships and High Tech Trophy at the Dombol Touk Hall of the Royal University of Phnom Penh.

H.E. Ou Ratana highlighted that, under leading with Katik Britbandit, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, the sports sector in Cambodia has reached a high point that has made ASEAN countries have admired strongly. Samdech always pays close attention to the well-being of our athletes. At the same time, His Excellency the President of the Federation stated that, this year’s competition is different from last year’s competition as we have organized the competition in two levels: the under-18 years old level and the 18 years old up.

What the Federation is doing is that the Federation is looking at our youth, who are the grassroots that we have been training for the past 4 years. Whether how much have their level improved to make it easier for them to be included in the big team in preparation for other international competitions.
This competition is held to examine and select good athletes to prepare for the world competition in November, because Cambodia has registered to compete in the 8th World Vovinam Championship in Bali, Indonesia, which will start on November 2-8, 2025. The growth in the number of athletes and clubs who participated in the competition this year really shows positive points for the sport of Vovinam towards the future.

With this remarkable achievement, H.E. Mong Kimheng, Secretary of State, Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training and is also the Honorary President of the Cambodia Vovinam Federation, highly appreciated all the federation leaders who worked hard to organize this competition with good results and success, with the significant participation of the private sector in the development of this sport, in addition to what that the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports has done to support the National Sports Federation in the past until now.

According to H.E. Ly Chansopheakdey, Secretary General of the Cambodia Vovinam Federation said that, this competition was attended by clubs from 11 ministries, institutions, capitals and provinces, with a total of 127 delegates, coaches and athletes. The competition was divided into 3 levels with 26 disciplines, including 19 martial arts disciplines and 11 fighting disciplines.

This year’s event increased by 5 clubs and 42 athletes compared to last year. As a result of the competition, the Ministry of National Defense was crowned champion with 9 gold medals, 5 silver medals and 1 bronze medal. The Ministry of Interior was runner-up with 8 gold medals, 7 silver medals and 3 bronze medals. Siem Reap Province came in third with 3 gold medals, 3 silver medals and 5 bronze medals. Sen Sok Vovinam Club won 3 gold medals, 3 silver medals and 1 bronze medal.
